Welcome!

In grammar, the students will need a one inch three-ring flexible notebook.  The students will work through a very structured grammar program that teaches grammar concepts through repetition.  The students will be given the activity sheets that will go into their notebooks.  They will need to put hole reinforcements on each page, so it is very imperative that each student have hole reinforcements.  There will be flashcards given out with a zippered bag to put them in that will go along with the activity sheets.  The students must review their flashcards EVERY NIGHT for at least five minutes.  They will be quizzed every week over their flashcards.  We will work out of the Language Network Book and Workbook for extra practice over the grammar concepts being taught from the grammar notebook.
In writing, the students will be taught the various writing modes such as compare/contrast, persuasive, how-to, narrative, and descriptive.  The students will learn how to proofread various types of stories for grammatical mistakes and know how to correct them.  By the end of the school year, the students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful on the seventh grade writing TAKS test.
