Preparing for Academic & Social Success
- I am so glad to be teaching PASS at Dunn Elementary. I currently serve sixth, fifth, and some forth grade PASS students. I am also working on my administrative certification. I am completing my internship this school year with Principal Burnett. I come to Dunn with a diverse background. Previously, I taught fifth and sixth grade PASS at Key Elementary; however, the PASS program is no longer on the Key campus. Before I taught PASS at Key, I was a speech-language pathologist and special education team leader at Ashworth Elementary. I have worked as an assistant administrator for the Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) program for elementary and high school. I have also worked contract for Fort Worth ISD and Irving ISD. Just prior to coming to the Arlington ISD, I worked for Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.
- The Initial goal is successful compliance with behavior and simple academic tasks, but these expectations must gradually increase. The primary objective of PASS is to teach appropriate behavior and social skills and move toward the least restrictive environment. Some of the behaviors we target include: iimpulse & self control, social skills, peer relations, task initiation & follow through, flexibility, coping skills, and adaptability. Students must be instructed in alternate strategies to successfully return to the general education setting. Instruction is provided based on the student's IEP and grade level TEKS.
Kids love great educational websites. Here are some we use:
