A little about me...
Welcome to 5th grade math! I am Amy Haugen, and this is my eleventh year to teach, and my fifth year to teach 5th grade. Math is my very favorite subject, and I am excited to have the opportunity to teach it all day! My family is especially happy that I am at Dunn because our oldest daughter, Karalyn, is a 3rd grader in Mrs. Cyrier's class this year. I have two other future Dragons, Erica, almost 5 years old, and Jack, 2 years old. My husband, Greg, is in his eleventh year as the choir director at Nichols Junior High in north Arlington. In my spare time, I love to read, watch movies, spend time with my family, and sing. (My husband and I sing with the Arlington Master Chorale.) I am also a hopeless chocoholic! :)
Homework/Quizzes:
Your student will have homework Monday through Thursday evenings. Your student’s math homework is a completion grade. Each day it will be checked for effort and completion and given points accordingly. At the end of the week, all homework assignments will be compiled, and the points will be added to give one homework grade for the week. We will check our homework in class to determine what skills need more work and which skills we “got”. If you help your student on homework, and you feel that he/she still needs more help, then please write a note at the top of the homework page, or instruct your student to let me know.
Math quizzes will be given weekly, and they will be graded for accuracy.
